How was for us as Spanish speaking kids in a new country and with a new language. This video gives you an idea of the discrimination we "Marielito's" felt. Luckily our Cousin Jorge Fernandez and Jorge Capote were nice to us but we had a huge age difference too they were in high school and I was the oldest at only 8. But they drove us to the hospital and took us to the movies Jorge Fernandez took em to Return of the Jedi in 1983 what an awesome memory. They both became our Godfathers Jorge Capote was mine and Jorge Fernandez was Yoyi's Godfather and Ricardo Fernandez was Jose's. But school was like this at least for me during the 1980s and we were very poor. I was picked on and made fun of because we where refugees. In those days like now my family helped make it through those tough times.
